Kestrel

This is a reproduction of my original 8”x10” oil painting. Printed on high quality archival paper using giclee ink to ensure color quality and to prevent the ink from fading or yellowing. It comes mounted on 1/8” backing board to increase durability and to make framing easier. It comes unframed.

This Kestrel was fun to paint. I met the bird on a very windy day. The Kestrel is the smallest falcon and normally, a very sleek and striking bird of prey. This Kestrel was fluffed up and ruffled from the wind. When it looked at me, it had a look like, “Oh great, first the wind and now this guy with the giant eyeball (I don’t actually know what birds think about a large camera lens, but it might look like a giant eye to them)!” Painting this expression was fun.
